We are looking for a Consultant Psychiatrist to join our experienced and enthusiastic team in Te Whetu Tawera, the Adult Acute Inpatient Mental Health Unit for Auckland District Health Board. We serve the population of central Auckland, with a 58 bed unit, including a 12 bed ICU.

We work in collaboration with the service user, their family/whanau and the 8 community mental health teams to promote recovery.

We are based in a purpose built facility, at the main Auckland City Hospital site, close to the Auckland University Medical School. Our location also means we are next to the beautiful green Auckland City Domain, close to the scenic harbour and with immediate access that to all that central city Auckland has to offer.

We are seeking an enthusiastic, proactive Psychiatric Consultant who has a special interest in adult acute inpatient psychiatry. This is our only medical vacancy. There are 4 inpatient clinical teams each with a Consultant, a Registrar, and a House Officer.

You must be a medical practitioner registered with the Medical Council of New Zealand (www.mcnz.org.nz) eligible for Vocational Registration in Psychiatry and an Annual Practising Certificate.

You'll enjoy great support and equally impressive diversity in a busy and interesting clinical teaching environment.

This is a Permanent, full time position. It includes the requirement to participate on the adult mental health Consultant on call roster.

We strongly encourage applicants from all backgrounds with the necessary capability and who share our values to apply and would greatly value seeing more applicants from our Māori & Pacific communities. Our organisation values diversity, inclusivity and empathy, if you do too, apply now and join us to make a positive difference and to “do your life’s best work at Auckland DHB”.
