Psychiatric patient stabbed social worker in car

November 19, 2008
by Staff Reporter

.....

A SOCIAL worker was stabbed by a psychiatric patient while they were both in a car.

Derek Wagg, aged 54, last week admitted stabbing Gareth Dafydd in September as he drove them from a community mental health residential unit.

Wagg, a voluntary patient at the unit, had been informed he could no longer stay after a knife was found in his bedroom.

But as Mr Dafydd took him home to Harlech, north Wales, Wagg stabbed him twice in the chest. Wagg had previously admitted wounding with intent.

Wagg, has been remanded in custody until January 5 for a psychiatric report.
