Details:
We currently have a vacancy for a clinical practitioner to work
on a fixed term for one year to cover maternity leave from May 2008.
Kneesworth House Hospital is an independent 145-bed hospital providing
a range of specialised services for patients detained under the
Mental Health Act 1983. Particular importance is attached to the
role of Psychologists in helping develop and deliver the specialised
assessment, management and treatment programmes required for these
patients.
You will work under the supervision
of a lead Consultant Clinical Psychologist to maintain and develop
a well-established programme of assessment and treatment on a 20-bed
male mental illness unit. Key responsibilities include conducting
clinical risk assessments and standardised cognitive assessments,
facilitating psycho-educational group interventions, and offering
individual therapy encompassing a CBT approach.
The unit requires someone with experience
in working with complex patients with severe and enduring mental
illness and/or offending behaviour. You will have extensive experience
of analysing complex information/data sets and formulating clinical
hypotheses as well as applying a broad range of psychological theories
to the assessment and treatment to individual patients. With experience
of working within a multi-disciplinary team you will also have experience
of risk assessment and risk management.
The successful candidate will have
a Bachelors Degree in Psychology (2:1 minimum) and a post-graduate
degree in Psychology (Clinical, Counselling or Forensic) ideally
with eligibility for chartered status with the BPS.
